With everyone awaiting the tie of the Yorkshire Plate, both squads turned up to a very gloomy foggy morning at Sandhill Lane.
Malton started of the brightest and were first to score. This seemed to get Selby into gear and they soon equalled things up.
The whole game was very even apart from a 10 minute period at the beginning of the 2nd half when Selby scored 3 tries. Even then Malton battled hard and fought back with two late tries to keep the game in balance.
A final score of 31-20, with tries from Brown X2, Wright, Bason and Pocklington, plus 3 conversions from Stelling. A great performance by all the squad.
This game was closer than the score suggests, with Malton fighting all the way.
