Selby U13's V Driffield U13's

Selby met Driffield last week for the second time in a month – this time for a home tie. With Driffield’s narrow win still fresh in their memories the Sandhill Laners were keen to make amends. Selby started strongly, spending most of the first ten minutes in the Driffield half; the pressure soon paid off with Luke Fisher cleanly catching a long ball, presenting cleanly at the ruck for Charlie Bramley to clear to Ollie Uren who scored underneath the posts. A second Selby try came soon after with winger Hedley Ben-Harris receiving another long pass, running from half-way and dodging through the Driffield defence to score. Selby’s next score started with prop Alex Whitehead bulldozing through the Driffield defensive line, off-loading to the backs who passed out to Sam Perrin to touch down. As half-time approached Driffield started to regroup, successfully attacking through their big forwards to chalk up their first score, quickly adding a second from a penalty deep in the Selby half.
The second half started scrappily with both teams giving away penalties from repeated indisciplines. Selby made the most of the broken play with Noah Dobson receiving clean ball from a ruck close to the Driffield line and bursting through the defence to score. The home team put the game beyond doubt with an attacking scrum 5m out from the line, the ball coming out cleanly, passing out along the backs to Luke Fisher to score and then with another touch-down from Ollie Uren. Driffield scored one more try just before full time but it was too late to prevent Selby taking the honours.
