Selby travelled away again this Sunday to Pocklington. Selby fielded two teams with substitutes against two teams from Pocklington.
Team one embarked on their opening game against a well matched Pocklington side. The opening sequences saw Pocklington seize opportunities to score a hat trick of tries in quick succession. Leaving Selby somewhat frustrated. However, in difficult circumstances they managed to re-group and gain focus. Eventuality walking out the winners, in what was described by the coaches as the best play the team had ever performed.
Their second match was also evenly matched. But once again, digging deep, they again walked away the winners although with a narrower margin. Gabriel Sheppard, Joe Bugg and Jack Calam excelled in both, impressive tacking and dominance in the rucks, enabling the ball to be passed out to the wingers to score in style.
A special mention must be for Connor Dale, who showed extreme sportsmanship in helping a Pocklington player back onto the field after an awkward knock.
Team two also played two games and again were stretched drawing one and winning the other. Strong performances came from the unflappable Luke Fairfield who showed some fine footwork and running and William Tehan for all round organisation and positivity.
A great morning of junior rugby with jubilant cheers for Selby ringing round the Pocklington woodland.
