This game was a close affair with Selby hanging on to win by the narrowest of margins. In the end it was tough tackling and exceptional back play that was the key to this victory. Watson scored a good try after some good handling across the field. This spurred York on who scored themselves. Houston powered in yet another try after he intercepted the restart from a good kick by Moore and stormed over the line in a beautiful show of individual skill. Selby then set about finishing the job through Price who crashed through four tacklers after numerous phases of play by the rolling forwards. This is how the score remained until the second half. Selby went over the line again quickly after the kick off courtesy of Godfrey. The game looked over but York had other ideas after Selby took their minds of the game scoring two quick try’s to leave the game on a knife edge. York nearly won it when their fullback broke the line only to run into Daltry, who welcomed him to Selby with a tackle that left him crying for his mother and needing medical attention. Moore kicked the kick that followed into touch for a well deserved but close victory.
