1. Letter from Youth Chair

Dear Parent/Guardian

Welcome to another season with Selby RUFC.

It is my privilege as Youth Chair to welcome you and your family to the Club, whether returning or joining us for the first time. This season begins on Sunday 6th September 2026 and concludes at the end of April 2027.

Please note our Micros (School Reception age children) will be starting their season a week later on the 13th September at 9.30 am.

Club Membership and RFU Registration

New and existing membership subscriptions will continue to be paid through the club website, often referred to as Pitchero.

Full details and breakdown of all membership packages can be found on the club website Selby RUFC HERE. For 2026/27, membership prices have been adjusted in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI) as of April, and the AGM also approved a one-off £10 increase on top of that across every membership category for this season and next — around 33p a week. All members have received a letter from our Honorary Treasurer explaining the club's finances and the additional £10 in full.

Once your club membership has commenced a new digital membership will be forwarded to you. Your membership gives you a discount at the club bar as well as the option to enter the draw for International rugby tickets at Twickenham. You will also get members’ discount on entry to our first team home games, a great way to see some superb rugby played here at Sandhill Lane and where your child could be playing in the future!

RFU Registration

You will also need to register your child with the RFU (England Rugby's Governing Body) which is completed through the RFU Game Management System (or GMS). Registration is separate from membership, but both must be in place before your child can play. If they are new to Selby RUFC, registration must be completed within 45 days of joining. If they are returning to us, please renew their registration for the new season. You can register or renew here as soon as possible: GMS Registration

Membership subscriptions and GMS registrations are both mandatory. Your child will be unable to play in matches unless both are completed and in place.

Any questions with regards to the membership process can be sent to membership@selbyrufc.com.

Your Club

We have some fantastic facilities here at Selby RUFC and as our club membership is for the whole family, not just players, please do come in and use the clubhouse whenever you are visiting.

Hot and cold drinks are served at the bar and on training and match days hot food is available from our own kitchen, cooked in-house by our chef, Andy — please do use it and support the club. You can use the Clubhouse to wait for your child during training and make use of the free Wifi.

Make sure you also look out for our special events which run throughout the season, all of which our whole membership is welcome to attend (subject to availability).

Development

Being involved in rugby union is a great way to develop your child/children emotionally, physically and socially. The RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS) are at the heart of what we offer here at Selby RUFC.

Code of Conduct

Children develop at different speeds and have differing abilities and we ask that you support your manager and head coach when necessary and be mindful that when you are watching and supporting, you are watching children play a sport who have just started their understanding of the game.

Get Involved

We are always looking for more volunteers to help enhance what we can offer. If you would like to be more involved in the club or your team there will always be a warm welcome.

Even if you can’t commit to volunteering regularly, we need your help with small contributions of your time. We only have a small number of paid staff, almost everyone you will see is a volunteer, helping to make sure we can put on safe enjoyable rugby for your child.

Volunteers within junior rugby could be anything from helping to Coach, assisting the Team Manager or providing first aid, car parking on Sundays, taking a turn to wash the playing kit for your team, fundraising for your team, writing match reports, creating digital content or helping to organise events outside of rugby.

If you can spare a few hours to assist, please get in touch with comms@selbyrufc.com or speak to your team manager.

I am looking forward to an excellent season for all our teams and to meeting you around the club.

Kind Regards
Elliot Marsham
