Selby came close when Michael Prosser made a run but was tackled just short of the line. Selby was working well together and with a string of passes from Thomas Gable, Ben Abram’s and Tom Scholefield made good progress down the field. Harrogate scored their second after Selby lost the ball in open play and they made a run down the flank. The team rucked well but was 2-0 down at half time.

The second half was tight and again Selby performed well in the rucks with Eddie Liddle, Jonathan Green and Michael Prosser. Thomas Gable prevented a try by getting under the ball has Harrogate tried to ground the ball from the drive. This was repeated shortly afterwards after a scrum saw Harrogate driving the ball forward and Selby got under the ball again to prevent the try being scored. Harrogate didn’t give up and past the ball along the line and again made for the line which this time they found. Selby again stopped Harrogate after they made a run down the flank which was tackled into touch in the last play of the game.

Game 2
Selby started the game and piled on pressure with a run down the flank by Ella Parsonage before being tackled into touch. With Ripon B trying to push Selby back James Simpson showed that size doesn’t matter and but a great tackle in to stop Ripon getting to far ahead. Ripon B had the scrum and passed out which Selby failed to close down saw them take the lead. The first half continued have plenty of action with good runs from Ella Parsonage, Josh Knowles and James Simpson all failing to get to the try line due to Ripon closing Selby down. The breakthrough came from after the ball found its way out of the maul with Nick Clarke passing to Brett Howden who made the run and dancing side stepped avoided the tackle and found the try line to equalise going into half time.

The second half although saw no more tries saw Selby pressurise Ripon with great tackle by Melissa Howden, Ella Parsonage, Sam Flinders and Brett Howden. Several times Ripon tried to overpower Selby but we stole the line outs with help from Harry Barlow. With Ripon feeling the pressure of Selby they were pulled up after they made an overzealous tackle lifting James Simpson off the ground in the last play of the game.

Game 3
Selby Bs last game was against Harrogate B which saw finding the try line 3 times in the first half, which doesn’t show how hard Selby worked in the mauls and the tackles that they made.

The second half was much tighter and even though Selby didn’t find the try line saw good tackles from Harry Barlow, Nick Clarke and Melissa Howden. Our best runs in this half came from Sam Flinders down the flank but were tackled into touch. In a lapse of concentration Harrogate scored a try in the last play of the game.
