After 3 weeks of disappointment following cancellations due to the adverse weather conditions Selby Under9’s journeyed to Pocklington for a three way game against Pocklington and Driffield! Feeling inspired by the success (albeit a loss in the end) of the England World Cup squad they were determined with all teams going from strength to strength from the first whistle to the last. Three teams of boys and girls showed some fantastic skills in both defence and attack with some great tackling, good running and timely off loads.
The opposing teams were strong and very tall and gave Selby some good challenge as they pushed towards their own try lines. newly acquired tackling skills are improving by the week as individual players - (Harry Calam) took more and more opportunities to stop the opposition!
It’s clear to see that the players are developing a much better awareness of team play as they looked and offered support among their team to get them up and down the pitches! A solid effort from all three Selby teams - Well done!
We are looking forward to reviewing play on Tuesday evening at training before taking on Yarnbury RUFC at home on Sunday 10th November 2019!
