Selby RUFC U13 boys team journeyed south to partake in the Leicester Tigers match day festival.

A tournament of 12 teams from across the country with the winners having the privilege of doing the Guard of Honour and Remembrance Silence at the Leicester Tigers vs Coventry Premiership Cup fixture.

Selby were placed in pool 2, and after 5 straight wins, progressed to the final against pool A winner Peterborough Lions.

Selby showed their usual prowess, with team play being at the heart of the game. Passing the ball down the line, super ball handling skills, and reading of the game. Monster tackles were made, fast breaks led to some individual tries, and great team-work delivered the rest. After specialised training from Selby first team prop at the start of the season, the pack stood up well in the scrum, regardless of Selby’s inferior pack weight, the technique and drive resulted in over 90% of scrums going in Selby’s favour. Most impressive was that after over 90 minutes of play the team conceded no tries!

Selby U13’s train on a Thursday evening, and matches are on Sundays, with the next match against Hull Ionians on Sunday 1st December.
