Match Preview

Selby u12s are pleased to welcome Malton U12 to Sandhill land for a curtain raiser before the clubs' first team game. Looking back through our records the last time these teams met was at Driffield's mini festival (we think!!) a few years ago and it was a tightly contested match with Malton just running our victors, although we don’t keep score!

This season Selby under 12s are going very well. We play 12 a side full contact with 5 man scrums, and have made great progress since we started mid-week training. As with most Selby junior teams we have a large squad of 30 players, so we look to play a rotation and get everyone similar game time where possible, squeezing in a few extra double fixtures if we can manage. If you study the team sheet carefully you see a few names you recognise from bygone times at Selby (Pearce, Arnold, Clash, Clark, Edwards, Sissions).

This year the u12s will be touring again heading to Leicester in February so thank you for your continued support.

We are blessed to have a great set of coaches, so thanks to our adopted Kiwi - Kerry Wood, who brings that dose of craziness the kids love to every session, and to Carl and Rob, the enforcers. As usual nothing happens without our managers Jackie and Sarah keeping us in line….. thank you.

Oh, and I nearly forgot the parents. We have played some tough fixtures over the last few weeks and managed to come out on top. Though out these games our parents are setting a great example, providing encouragement from the sideline and biting their lips when the refereeing is not going our way!!!

It is always a great experience for the junior teams to meet the first team squad and run out onto the first team pitch so thank you Jay, Alex, Tiz and Nikki for making this possible. Let's hope this crop of juniors are inspired and can return the favour in a few year's time.
