Selby Women produced an outstanding all-round display as they ran in 16 tries to record a comprehensive 90–0 victory over Beverley on Sunday.
From the opening whistle, Selby’s attacking intent was clear. They moved the ball with pace and accuracy, stretching the Beverley defence and creating space across the pitch. Quick recycling and strong support play ensured a constant stream of opportunities, which they converted with clinical finishing throughout.
Beverley struggled to cope with the relentless pressure, as Selby’s free-flowing style and cohesion in both forwards and backs kept the scoreboard ticking over in a one-sided contest.
Head coach Jack Coates praised his side’s performance after the match, highlighting both their discipline and defensive standards.
“I was incredibly proud to watch the team play with such focus and discipline throughout,” he said. “They stuck to the process, trusted their structure and executed their roles with real clarity, which was reflected in the scoreboard.
“While the attacking display was outstanding, the most pleasing aspect for me was keeping the opposition to zero. That level of defensive commitment, concentration and work rate speaks volumes about the team’s mindset and standards, and it gives us real confidence going into the final stages of the season.”
Selby now turn their attention to Sunday’s home fixture against York RUFC (2pm kick-off), with the title race in Women’s NC 3 North (South East) finely balanced. With several sides still in contention at the top of the table, every result is crucial, and Selby will be looking to carry this momentum into another important test.
