Selby's 3rd string travelled with a very different squad than the one that started the week on paper after losing players to higher teams and then on the morning of the game having to ask players to join them from retirement, injury and dragging players from the 4ths to fill gaps.
Nestle 1st team have found form recently so it was always going to be a battle to come away with any points and to make matters worse the pitch resembled what can only be described as a cross between an ice rink and potato field which made for an entertaining day for the backs and forwards a like! Proper rugby!!
Sadly Selby just had to defend for the majority of the afternoon against a well drilled Nestle team who seemed desperate for a win against their bitter rivals but they found it tough in parts and the mixed Selby side defended stoutly with Mike Parsonage, Olly Turvey, Neil Williams, Adam Ross and Ian Copperweat leading from the front!
With only 10 players on the morning of the game, the victory was simply getting a team on the pitch and thanks goes to Scott Rielly, and Ed Green who are regular 4/5ths, Tony Godfrey playing his first game for 4 seasons and 17 year old Colt Olly Turvey who stood out as one for the future.
