This will be the age group's 5th trip - they have been going 'on tour' since their first outing to Newcastle back in April 2018 when U10's. Only missing out on a 2021 tour due to Covid travel restrictions. On past tours, we have visited Newcastle twice, Leicester and Manchester. This time it's Great Yarmouth that has the pleasure of hosting the red, green and gold army.
22 families are travelling via coach to a Haven holiday park near Great Yarmouth on Friday 28th April 2023 for a 3-night visit. The squad are entered into a 2-day rugby festival which will be held at Lowestoft & Yarmouth rugby club. They will be playing in a competitive league structure and facing teams from all over the UK. It's sure to be an unforgettable experience for them all.
In the past, we have been fortunate to assist families with the cost of taking the lads on tour by fund-raising which we have then used to enhance the group's tour experience. Through these fund-raising efforts, the lads have watched live premiership games, gone go-karting and had fun at a water park. This year we would like to continue to enrich the 'tour event' for squad members with some added activities that they can enjoy and experience together.
On Saturday 25th February 2023 the 22 lads and some parents are taking part in a sponsored row-a-thon. They will be on-site at Selby Rugby Club from around 10.30 am on 2 rowing machines ready for the challenge. They will be rowing for a total of 12 hours! The lads have all been issued with sponsorship forms. On the day we will also have family members selling raffle tickets for some wonderful hamper prizes that have been donated. So please if you are down watching the senior teams play – come over, say hello and perhaps buy a raffle ticket or two. I can assure you it will be greatly appreciated.
