Selby to Pocklington Bike Ride

Selby to Pocklington Bike Ride

Karen Ratcliffe24 Apr 2021 - 10:05

The Day is Nigh

Next Saturday, 1st May, we will be waving off our band of merry cyclists on the first leg of their Selby to Pocklington bike ride in support of our Crowdfunding initiative.

Around 40 cyclists are participating enthusiastically or were “gently” persuaded (with a promise of a few beers) that it would be a good day out!!

Setting off from Sandhill Lane, in permitted groups, the planned gentle route to Pocklington will take around two hours and will meander through the Yorkshire countryside and take in villages the likes of Bubwith, Seaton Ross, Hayton to name a few, along the way. Our Friends at Pocklington Rugby Club are letting us use their facilities for a well needed refreshment stop before heading back to Selby. Thank you to the Club for their hospitality and for which our riders will be very grateful for.

A band of support crew with puncture repair kits, refreshments and ample amounts of encouragement will be on hand to support our band of Rucking Cyclists.

The original band of Selby Rucking Cyclists has been reformed (I don’t think they had much choice!) and over the last few weeks have been seen warming up their wheels and leg muscles in varying degrees of keenness. It will be great to see them on the road again.

The Peloton are due to return to Sandhill Lane around 2-3 o’clock on Saturday afternoon and your encouraging cheers and support would be appreciated.

Remember to book your table beforehand (clubhouse@selbyrufc.com).
