Selby RUFC’s Girls Section continues to go from strength to strength, with a series of outstanding representative honours recognising the club’s talent, teamwork, and dedication across the age groups.

Over the past few months, the girls have shown tremendous commitment both on and off the field, earning selection at county, regional, and even national level — a reflection of their passion for the game and the strong pathway Selby has built for young female players.

In a fantastic achievement, 14 Selby girls have been selected for the England Yorkshire Player Development Group (PDG), covering both U16 and U18 age categories:

U16s: Lucy Force, Emma Jackson, Lucy Moyes, Mollie Bolton, Emily Cooper-Illingworth, Elsie Carpenter, Erin McCluskey, and India Unsworth.

U18s: Milly Force, Megan Usher, Tayla Lamb, Freya Clayton, Evelyn Askin, and Isabel Fortune-Davies.

At the next level, Megan Usher, Freya Clayton, and Isabel Fortune-Davies have been selected for North England U18s, while Scarlett Leighton and Jasmine Smith proudly represent Yorkshire County U18s.

To cap it off, Isabel Fortune-Davies has earned an invite to an England U18s camp, marking an incredible individual milestone and a source of huge pride for the entire club.

Club officials were quick to praise not only the girls’ performances but also their positive attitude, work ethic, and unity as a squad. Their success is inspiring the next generation of players within Selby’s growing junior and youth sections.

Selby RUFC would also like to give special thanks to the coaching team — Connelee Usher, Kevin Lamb, and Ian Ramsay — whose tireless dedication, encouragement, and belief have been instrumental in helping the girls reach new heights.

“These achievements are a true testament to the passion and hard work shown by our players and coaches,” said a club spokesperson. “We couldn’t be prouder of how they represent Selby RUFC, both on and off the pitch.”

Congratulations to every player on their well-deserved recognition — your success continues to make the whole Selby family proud!
