Kev Lowery
It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of a true Selby Rugby Club legend, Kev Lowery, who passed away following a typically courageous battle with Cancer on the evening of Monday 23rd March.
For those privileged enough to have the opportunity to play on the same pitch, Kev will be remembered as a great team mate with the strength of an ox and he was exactly the sort of player you would always want to be playing on your team rather than for the opposition.
Off the field Kev was a gentle giant with an infectious laugh, a keen sense of humour and a willingness to get involved (as he did so often when performing so brilliantly in the Club’s Stars in their Eyes evenings).
Nobody who went on the Prague Tour will ever forget Kev’s “Eye of the Tiger” entrance in Brno where he became the “Undisputed Bottle Walking World Champion”.
Although Kev leaves us with a profound sense of grief, he also leaves behind an absolute Treasure Trove of memories that many members will be able to cherish and remember him by.
We send our sincerest condolences, thoughts and best wishes to Kev’s family and friends at this difficult time
Kevin's funeral will be held on Wednesday 15th April 11am at Hemingbrough St Marys Church, followed by a private family cremation.
Everyone is invited to celebrate his life afterwards at The Crown in Hemingbrough.
Family flowers only.
Donations will be welcome on the day for the amazing Ward 31/haematology & oncology ward at YDH, that have been amazing with Kevin and his family over the last year.
