Selby U13's win Plate Final.

On Mothering Sunday Selby travelled to Scarborough RUFC to face Moortown in the Final of the U13 Plate Final.

Selby had not played Moortown for a couple of years so both teams were unsure of their opponents and how they played. Moortown were very strong and physical in all departments apart from the scrum. From the early stages it was evident that the front row of Adam, Nathan and Jamie were well on top and with the 2nd row of Liam and Nathan providing a front five that would provide some first class scrummage ball.

Playing into a big sea breeze Selby went a try up when Nathan scored in the corner. Moortown hit back with a strong run from their powerful centre which was converted. Selby kept the pressure on and finally scored a try in the corner by Kyle to leave the half time score at 10-7.
The 2nd half started badly with a try by Moortown, but with the wind behind their backs Henry and Sam kept Moortown pinned down deep in their half.
Further tries from Adam, Charlie and Will, converted by Henry pushed the score out to 31-12.
A very good game watched by a large crowd from Leeds and Selby.
Hopefully this was a great Mother’s Day present to all of the Selby mums!!
