A team of cold ridden individuals turned up at Bramhope to take on a West Park Team that had a number of difficult challenges early in the season.
Following the good result against Brods the Green Machine was in confident mode and it may have been this that lead to the mood of complacency that that seemed to settle on a number of members of the team. That coupled with the bulk of the squad coughing and sneezing like heavy smokers.
From the warm up the lads were not in the game with dropped balls and poor concentration being the order of the day.
At the start of the game Selby were found themselves facing a team playing them at their own rucking game.
Three times in the first 7 mins Selby found themselves over comiting men at the ruck. This left them short of players out of the ruck and allowed West park to create an overlap on the left wing. Which they successfully exploited to go over for three trys.
Despite these early setbacks Selby never gave in and competed well in all areas except the tackle and it was this failure to make tackles at the right height that allowed WP to gain an advantage in attack.
This said the spirit of the team was good as they never gave up and went over the try line twice only to have the ref say held up.
Not a good Selby performance and a bad day at the office to be forgotten and moved on from
