Selby under 9s second encounter of the season was a glorious, if hard fought, double header with Castleford RUFC and West Leeds RUFC. Tries rained in from both sets of opposing sides and Selby’s tackling was leaky at the wing. Castleford with a background of the League code had stunning tackling ability, which was an initial shock for the Selby braves. However, the try scoring abilities of Selby’s squad started to tell once their nerves settled. West Leeds’ skills were excellent throughout the morning, though Selby’s composure and flair tipped the balance.
This was yet another fabulous rugby encounter in what is beginning to feel like a summer sport with all the sunny weather.
Stand out performances from William Lonsdale, Eddie Campbell-Baldwin, Blake Herbert, Lewis Yoxall, Jack Calam and Gabriel Sheppard. These players were allowed to shine because of excellent teamwork and support play from everyone.
