Driffield 4th team 19
Selby RUFC 4th Team 5
Write James D’Lion
This game was a close fought hard battle for both teams that the score line doesn’t represent. Selby had far the greater possession and chances but it was three break away tries that won it for Driffield. Selby dominated in the scrum and set plays as well as the backs playing some good flowing rugby. But Selby lacked the ability to finish against a well drilled and determined defence plus an extremely short sighted referee. Selby’s try came in the dying minutes courtesy of captain Banks. Christison was man of the match for his great running and all round game but needs to work on his fitness for this level of rugby, and should consider trying out in the front row. All the team deserve praise for their effort in this hard fought contest. Especially Abram’s who showed great courage in playing even though he was suffering concussion and didn’t know which way he was running.
