Fine Cup victory sends the 3rds into the semi's of the North Yorkshire Cup

The Swans march into the semi-finals of the North Yorkshire Cup care of a resounding victory over a nuggety Redcar second string.
Mickey Parsonage opened the scoring in the 5th minute putting the finishing touches to an irresistible burst upfield, Leigh Adamson chipping over a straightforward conversion.
On ten minutes Aiden Pearce cantered over to dot down allowing Adamson another successful conversion opportunity. Redcar rumbled back, hiding the ball for long periods in their forwards before unleashing lightning bursts from their centres however Selby held firm and pushed back to go further ahead in the 26th minute as Pearce again broke through.
With the match official’s timepiece indicating half time was moments away Selby hit Redcar with a devastating double as first Adam Lee, securing a loose ball just inside the Redcar half, thundered through unwilling defenders to secure a fine solo try. This was followed by Adam Roberts getting on the end of a move that saw the Swans swoop back upfield with deft hands and purposeful running creating the half chance. Adamson converted both tries to put Selby 33 – 0 up at the break.
Redcar managed to find a chink in the Selby armour from the re-start grabbing an unconverted score. This gave them new heart and started a period of intense pressure as they looked to add to their tally. Mickey Parsonage reprised his earlier effort to release some of the tension and keep the game firmly beyond Redcar.
Selby stole back upfield again with Jason Goodwin dropping the shoulder and busting through to deliver a delicate pass into the path of Ben Rawson who dotted down under the sticks, Adamson again converting
It was Aiden Pearce who grabbed his hat-trick & Selby’s eighth try leaving Adamson to tidy up the extras.
A good win built on a sound forward foundation with Blaymire, Lewis and Spence always busy and Andy Bennett making it easy for the backs to maintain the momentum.
Redcar, their line denuded by absentees visiting HQ, battled hard and kept going right to the final whistle, on a different day it could have been a different result.
At the time of going to press Selby are unaware of who their opponents will be in the Semi’s which take place on the 23rd February. On current form who would want to face them?
