In a vigourously contested game that flared over at times and that was three yellow cards given, and one red to a Sandal player for stamping, Selby kept their cool and edged to a narrow victory.

A Chris Watson break on the wing was well supported by man of the match Ben Booth for the crucial try. Gary Moore playing at full back on his welcome return to the game converted and bagged a penalty. Young Dan England was prominent, causing problems with his searing pace.
