Selby's 2nd team travelled away to Roundhegians in Leeds, on another warm and bright day. Taking, for the first time a side that due to late call offs ended with several players out of position .

Selby started on the front foot a lot quicker than they had the previous two weeks and were glad of the scrummaging practise with a full compliment from both sets of forwards.

Roundhegians looked to have a youthful side but ended up to being no match for the well drilled Selby side. Selby were able to open the score after several minutes with a well worked backs move, with Nicklin going over after crashing through the defence and running over the fullback.

The restart brought the forwards into play with some fantastic pick and gos from Randell, who time and time again showed why his natural position is on the flank. Big runs by Booth meant that Selby was able to cross the gain line time and time again, with all forwards in support which resulted in a passage of play that resulted in Tanner going over the line for Selby's second try of the game.

The home side then kept the ball rather than kicking possession away all the time. When the ball did get to the winger, his only option was to kick ahead because of the Selby cover that was in abundance. A lucky bounce along the touch line gave Roundheighans their only score of the game. Selby quickly came back into the game with a team effort which gave Gabel an easy pick and go from three metres out.

In the second half Selby again came out firing on all cylinders, with ball in hand and great team work were able to work their way towards the oppositions try line. Selby's backs able to recycle time and time again allowing Booth to come at pace, break the line and cross over for a well deserved try.

From that point Selby never looked like losing this game and it was good to see that all players got involved with ball carrying and support, this showed again when the ball went out to the Selby wing and then headed back towards the middle for Ellis to shrug off two tackle to score under the post.

The Selby side finished winners with a score of 5-27 and now that we are into the season, they all show promise if they can train together and build a team for the future.
