Old Brods EYDF Festival

Another early start was rewarded with seven wins out of seven for the Selby Girls U13s on Sunday.

As ever, the Old Brodlians club, coaches and girls were all welcoming and friendly. Selby girls played some old opponents such as Sandal, Castleford and Old Brods and also made new friends, playing Baildon, Mansfield, North Ribblesdale and Pontefract.

It was also great to see the North Ribblesdale girls at their first ever festival.

The Pens fought hard all day and the scorelines reflected this. Yet again, it was wonderful to see the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship with many of the Selby girls swapping colours to play for the other teams to help make up numbers. This meant that as many girls as possible were all playing rugby at the same time.

Despite a number of injuries the girls played fairly and the whole event felt like celebration of girls rugby.
