Another winning day for the Pens

Another very successful day for Selby Girls at Malton EYDF festival. The weather was nice and sunny, with a little chill in the air. The festival was started with a 2 minute silence to remember those brave men an women that have made the ultimate sacrifice to make days like this possible.

As for the rugby, well, today the Selby u13 girls dominated the festival, demonstrating great teamwork and sportsmanship and romping home with 3 victories. Friday night's training session, which focused on off loading skills, was put to excellent use today, making a huge difference to the girls' game.

Three games were played, with three wins. The first was a heavy game against Castleford where a great Selby defense brought home a win, Selby 15 - 5 Castleford.

The next game was against a combined team of Scarborough and Malton. The lead in this game gave Selby the opportunity to change things up and try a few changes in position. It seemed that whatever they did was a success, resulting in a second win, Selby 50 - 0 Scar/Malton.

The third game was against another mixed team of Goole, Doncaster and Hull. The girls have previously found their games against this mixed side to be hard fought and challenging. However, today, Selby u13 Girls were on fire and their new-found ability for quick accurate off-loads brought home another win, Selby 25 - 0 Goole/Donc.

Standout moments from today included Ella's interception against Goole/Donc, where she broke through the opposition's attacking line, stealing the ball and finishing with a try.

Shortly after was a fabulous try from Eva. This was set up from a incredible steal by Ella at the Selby try line, followed by a fantastic offload to Eva, who then finished with a run that consisted of the full width and full length of the pitch, which left the opposition trailing behind in astonishment.

Darcie scored a well earned and hard fought try in third match, with another long run in, finishing with a spectacular dive for the line.

A great team effort from all the girls. Well done.
