Selby started the stronger team with scrum half Flynn Goddard and fly half Joe Schofield pulling strings in attack, creating 2 try’s each for Jacob Kingswood and Will Carr, but Thornensians finished the half on top to lead 5-4 at half time.

Selby’s strength in depth allowed a fully fresh team to start the second half who after a tight first 10 minutes, showed their class with Sam Howdle scoring 2 and Jack Hudson running the full length of the pitch to score under the posts. Noah Athraby dominated at full back, stepping his way through Thorne’s defence for an excellent score. Selby’s second half wingers Peter Ross and Oliver Spink showed exceptional speed to beat the opponents out wide. Crunching tackles from Selby forwards Reuben Dakin, and birthday boy Luke Clark among others kept Thorne scoreless in the second half, allowing Selby a comfortable win.
