The sun is shining the sky is blue the Selby 20-man squad is out on the pitch warming up and waiting to play their biggest game of the season before the Christmas break, the crowd a poised waiting, ready to witness the action.

11am and kick off commences with Selby receiving the ball with the sun behind their backs, instantly the Selby backs are showing some excellent handling, passing the ball out wide with Bradley Lyons flying down the wing, but the Pontefract lads are covering well and so far, tackling well.Some great exchanges and tackling from both sides makes the first 15 minutes intense, then after a clever little chip over from Pontefract the Selby fullback Noah Athraby collects the ball with speed and gets Selby on the front foot and after consecutive penalties the ball is passed out and Will Carr cuts inside to score the first Selby Try. The next 10 minutes the Selby forwards are leading by example with Jacob Kingswood smashing through the defence and Jayden Fielden tackling his heart out and if it wasn’t from good tackling from the Pontefract boys then Kyle Vause would have nearly got a blistering try on the wing and Will Elworthy nearly scored on the half time whistle with some silky skills.

Second half begins with much the same positive attitude from both teams with Selby controlling the game, Bailey Hargreaves charging up the right-hand side, Reuben Dakin charging through down the middle and fierce tackling from Jack Hudson made for a crowd pleasing second half with Sam Howdell scoring the second Selby try of the game into the corner and not so many minutes later to put the cherry on top of the cake Will Carr scores the third Selby Try. Full-time whistle blows and you could hear the cheers all over Selby from the crowd, coaches and team members of how delighted they were to win this match.
