Selby were at home this week to visiting team, Doncaster. On a mild morning Selby fielded two teams to two teams from Doncaster.
Selby team 1 began their first game, against a seemingly powerful Doncaster side, with much confidence. They, despite their smaller stature, put in an impressive display in all areas of play to completely dominate the game. Scoring a rake of tries and some brave tackling they walked out the clear winners to a frustrated Doncaster.
Their second game was as intense. Selby were again dominant, notable performances were for Jack Calam, who seemed to be involved at every level, Ben Ward and the agile Benjamin Tosney who played with courage despite a couple of very hard tackles. Selby again walked out the winners by some considerable margin.
Team 2 also had a good morning. The first game saw full commitment from all the Selby players against the strong Doncaster team. The second game, where good solid play from Luke Ramsden and William Lonsdale, enabled the mercurial Will Baston and the talented Freya Clayton rack up the tries to enable a further Selby win.
A great morning for the valiant under 11 players but a thrilling spectacle for coaches, parents and fans alike.
