Tommy Burton Trophy

Goole 2nd's Man of the Match, Harry, presenting the Tommy Burton Trophy to Selby 2nd's Captain, Paul Randall.

Tommy Burton and Gary Wakes were both former players who died tragically, prematurely and suddenly from unrelated causes.

Tommy originated from Goole, but was a player at Selby for sadly too few years.
Gary played at Selby for many years, then returned to his native Goole to continue his playing career and latterly to coach.

The contested trophies were donated and are contested each year as a tribute to the high esteem in which both of these superb characters were held.
