Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it’s a tree......

On a cold and blustery day at Sandhill Lane, the mighty 4’s took on a bolstered side from Cleckheaton.

Selby started extremely strong with a very experienced chase from Duncan Goodhew's twin brother. The forwards were rampant, and were smashing the Cleck forwards all over, it was like getting a strike at a bowling alley, there were bodies flying everywhere.

After being very close to scoring a try, Cleck were awarded a 22, but I guess their 9 was dyslexic with numbers and took it on the 20 meter mark. After some great tackling, and a superb and commanding kicking game by Chris Rawlins (the kicking, not the tackling ?) Selby were once again in Clecks 22. After hand bags at dawn between myself and Badger over who was pushing the hardest, the mighty Viking Mark Houston smashed his way though to score. I’m sure MileyCyrus wrote a song about him. After a couple of mistakes and missed tackles (probably Rawlins) Cleck found theirselves over our white wash. After the kick off we were awarded a penalty, which the Ronald Mcdonald stunt double took, and kicked off very far and very high into the tree, however this was deemed at the time not to be out, which Ronald was not happy about so decided to take a well deserved 10 mins rest. And seeing as we were hammering Cleck up front, we thought only right to let them over for another try.

There were some superb hits going in all over, especially from Big D and Danni (I’ve p**d in a refs bag) Moore. And although today was clearly the forwards day, some superb work in the backs, including Scot and Youngy helped us get down into the oppositions half.

Northy was his normal commanding self, and bossed the game like he was a conductor in an orchestra making sweet sweet music.

All of this lead to Mark Jug Houston to go over for a 2nd, he was now on a roll, and seemed unstoppable.

It’s hard to pick out the real hero’s in the forwards today, as everyone put a shift in, but Dan Elcock was outstanding, and made some great decisions, and really lead from the front. Hopefully one day, he’ll be as good as his dad xx

The half time team talk was focused on only 1 thing.....shut the * up.

After the break, the Welsh giant Cicero made his way to the field, which after some fantastic forward work and unbelievable scrummaging, he went over to his first try in a few years.

We carried this on, and it was only a matter of time before the wrecking ball got his hatrick, which Youngy made sure he knew he had to buy us a jug (Guinness next time please)

To make sure we won, Scot took a penalty from a way out, and slotted it home with ease. It was this boot that won the day today, as we scored the same amount of tries as the opposition.

The game was won, and in true Selby style, we let them score a concelation, so they didn’t go home crying.

What a day, what a game, and what a great set of lads.

Special mention to Andrew Wilson, great pictures today, but will you please stop making me look fat.
