He writes "I have been bowled over by the amount of submissions for this category and everyone has given me an enormous sense of satisfaction – there was a constant theme about what rugby gives to our children: team spirit, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. All great attributes for life and us parents are all really proud of you all. I’ve read about teams calling from a large number of schools to recruit new players, being plagued with injuries, showing great attitude week in week out exciting Yorkshire cup runs.

But there is one team that really shone out for me this year. I remember watching this team two years ago and they were on intensive care! Just a handful of players and morale was dipping. Two years later, I was watching them at Sheffield in February and I couldn’t believe my eyes – what a transformation. Big squad, excellent skills on show and a great win against a big Sheffield side. This side have worked so hard to get the team to where they are now and the players and volunteers should take huge pride in what they have achieved.
